In case any readers happen to be attending the SSA’s convention this week in Greenville, SC Tony is speaking about the 13.5m WGC. His talk will be held tomorrow morning (2-19-2016) at 10:00am. Come join us and bring any questions you may have!
A big thank you to everyone who has followed along on this big adventure of ours. We just got back from the closing ceremony which was held here at Pociunai, Lithuania. As time permits I hope to post a few more follow up pictures of last night’s party and the rest of yesterday. Here are some quick shots from this morning though before I unplug the computer and finish packing.

13.5m team USA – Tony Condon and Francois Pin with their 3rd place team cup!
It was a tough day in the blue. We got a good start at 2 PM and had a pretty rough first leg. The whole flight I felt OK but not great about how our speed was. Climbs were pretty good but we weren’t pushing very hard between. Maybe that was the secret…
We won the day! 1st and 2nd. What a great way to end the contest. AND, Francois moved up into 3rd place for a podium finish. Fantastic!! We are pretty excited of course 🙂
Not sure about the Team Cup. Will let you know when we know. Lots of excitement here. Farewell party tonight, and we gotta get the gliders all cleaned up and packed up for the drive tomorrow. More later!!
On the podium! Peace Signs and Happy Pilots!
Here are some fun pictures to post as our time in Lithuania is coming to a close:

Where is the fence?!? Cows are kept on leashes here in Lithuania.
Flax from the local linen store.
Leah’s meal in nearby town of Birstonas – Pork neck roast with wild mushroom sauce.
Birstonas was a popular spot for dinner on contest day #11. Here is USA mixed class team Bob Fletcher and Eric Frere with contest Meterologist.
Fun with the internationals – Vegemite, Oreos, mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. France, Australia, USA, Poland (Australia’s crew) and Slovenia (French crew) are all represented.
Gira – Local molasses drink. Leah was the brave one to try.

Order your Mini-LAK today! Pure with water, piston self launch, or FES.
3 hour Area Task today to finish off the competition. Should be blue with some Cirrus overhead.
We had a good flight today, starting fairly early in fear of the approaching blue.
The run to the forest was OK and the downwind leg over the forest along the Belarus border was fantastic. At one time I saw 5 m/s average! The first turnpoint in Poland was right at the edge of the clouds and there were wisps most of the rest of the way home.
The French caught us at the third turnpoint after taking a later start. They zigged and we zagged on the leg to the steering turn. Today was their day.
We gained on a few and lost ground to a few today. François is still within striking distance of the podium for tomorrow, along with 3 or 4 others. It should be a great day to finish off the contest.
Francois and Tony would like to dedicate their 2nd and 3rd place finishes yesterday (Day #10) and today’s flights to Rick Walters “3R”.
